This album has only one page. The Blue heron is the predator that causes the most damage to the water garden. I must find some 4 - 5 inch plastic pipe to create fish caves for them to hide in. Before the pond sprang a leak in December of 2024 the fish had learned to hide in the 4 inch diameter, 12 inch long pcv pipes that were the 'caves'. I have yet (January 2026) to find some of these pipes to use as caves. I lost them when the pond was rebuilt by Larix Landscaping in 2025. I have tried various things to discourage the heron from having lunch at the pond, mostly to no avail. The pond sprang a leak in December of 2024, and I had the pond professionally rebuilt by Larix Landscaping list page and Larix Landscaping photo album. I also did the Restoration (list page) and the photo album of the Restoration of the pond area. I lost the fish and the caves and some plants from around the pond area. I believe I have racoons visiting the water garden also. I have no defence against them, except the depth of the pond and the caves. I once had a river otter lunching on the fish. There have been bull frogs in the pond that I have had to catch and destroy. The rabbits seldom cause damage as they don't seem to eat many of the plants. The squirrels are another predator that causes quite a lot of damage to the garden. They dig holes every where and try to save nuts or acorns under the plants.
