Myrrhis odorata, with common names cicely, sweet cicely, myrrh, garden myrrh, and sweet chervil, is a
herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the celery family Apiaceae. It is the only species in the genus Myrrhis.
Sweet Cicely has umbels of white flowers. The leaves are light green, fern like and deeply divided
but their most distinctive characteristic is that they smell strongly of aniseed when crushed.
This grows and self seeds in the back corner of the woodland garden. I really must start using it more.
