Photo of October, 2017 of the michaelmas daisies blooming under the fig tree. The name "Michaelmas daisy" comes from the fact that many aster species are in bloom around Michaelmas Day, which is on September 29th, the feast of St. Michael the Archangel. These plants self seed around the garden and have to be kept under control. They are good in bouquets.
