The great blue heron has visited my pond and cleaned it out over the years. I will have to surround the edges
with tomato cages or bamboo stakes, to stop it from wading into the shallow pond edges to feed. These
defences do nothing for the beauty of the pond, but they do seem to let the fish survive. I imagine the
raccoons visit the pond as well. But when I had the tomato cages up, the fish were surviving.
I DO like to have fish in the pond. I think they control the mosquitoes.
